Sophie Lanigan Projects is a research-led design studio that delivers installations, sculptures, publications, exhibitions, programmes, education and research focused on design, the coast, and contemporary culture.

The studio works with cultural institutions, design firms, publishers, universities and creative agencies on projects. Inquiries are welcome.

Sophie Lanigan,
Founder

Sophie Lanigan founded this practice in 2017. She holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Cambridge that examined oysters, urban seascapes, and the potential of design to mediate rising coastlines, as well as an MA in Critical Theory from the Architectural Association in London and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Sydney.

Sophie also directs Studio Index, a strategic communications practice for an ambitious built environment.

Angela Xu,
Research Assistant

Angela Xu is an architectural designer based in Sydney. A graduate of the Master of Architecture at the University of Sydney, her practice spans design, research and teaching, as a way of thinking through the relationships between place, water and architecture.

Max Volfneuk,
Fabrication

Max Volfneuk is a project manager with a Masters of Architecture from the University of Sydney and a background in making and music. He is currently pursuing a CertIV Building Certificate. Max is integral to the fabrication, construction and delivery of all projects.
